Outside Orchard Yurt

Orchard yurt nestles in a wild area of the garden in the old orchard. It is full of grasses, wild geraniums, cowslips, daffodils, fox and cubs and ajuga, sorrel etc and you have exclusive use of this area to relax in. At certain times of the year it becomes very busy with butterflies, bees, moths and sloe worms and as for other wildlife sometimes it can be a real din! Birdsong at its best in spring is amazing and we often wake to the sounds of the huge amount of birds that we are lucky enough to have surrounding us,

A campfire is situated just outside the yurt and a portable fire pit is also provided for extra warmth and barbecuing. There is a small charge for logs and local charcoal.

There is a waterproof boot box for your shoes and a water carrier for filliing your kettle and dousing out embers in the fires. There is a picnic table and several metal hooks for hanging lanterns in the evening.

We have a full size all weather table tennis table just outside the kitchen area for your use.

We are also incredibly lucky to have a neighbour who has a fabulous tennis court with outstanding views across the Herefordshire country and for a small charge they are more than happy for you to use this court. They can supply tennis racquets and tennis balls but they will require a deposit. If you have your own I would advise that you bring them with you.

New for 2011 - our 16' Bell Tent

The new addition this year is a traditional 16’ diameter Bell Tent with a zip in ground sheet.

The Bell Tent can sleep up to six adults and is for those campers who do not want the chore of putting up their own tent when they arrive. It can be situated beside the yurt or in the lower area of the campsite. Two camp beds and a double blow up mattress can also be supplied at a small cost so that all you need to bring is your sleeping bags, towels and any other small luxuries that you may need. A boot box is also outside the tent for muddy shoes and a gas lantern is also provided. You also have the use of the portable fire pit/BBQ.

The Kitchen

The kitchen has a ceramic tiled floor for easy cleaning in wet weather. There is a small ceramic sink with washing up bowl and a small immersion heater for hot water above. A fridge/freezer, table and dresser with crockery, bowls, mugs, plates, jugs, glasses, dishes, saucepans and knives, forks and spoons etc. We have provided wooden and plastic cutting boards, knives, garlic press, cheese grater, scissors, bottle openers, ‘T’ towell etc. Information on the local area is provided in box files which shows you things to do and where to go. A large OS map hangs on the wall showing the local area and walking trails.

Green cleaning materials, mop and bucket have been provided for your convenience. Washing up liquid and hand soap is also provided.

We have tried to fit the kitchen with all the equipment necessary to cook anything you want. Please let us know if anything is missing.

Just outside the kitchen is a covered area where there is a double calor gas burner and grill and outside water tap. A table and chairs for eating if the weather is too wet to sit at the picnic table by the yurt. There is also a dutch airer for drying clothes and towels. Recycling bins have also been provided.

Fire blankets, fire extinguishers and a basic first aid kit are supplied.

The Wash House

The wash house has a ceramic tiled floor for easy cleaning. There is an electric shower, loo, sink and hand soap with immersion heater above, shaving point and a large mirror. Plenty of towel rails, hooks and shelves for your bath bags and clothes. Loo rolls are also provided free of charge.

What to bring...

You will need to bring your own sleeping bags or duvets, bed linen and towels. I provide pillows and pillowcases at no extra cost.

A pair of warm slippers to wear inside the yurt or thick socks isn’t necessary but recommended to keep you extra warm.

A good torch is essential, as it does get very dark. No streetlights or town light pollution to light your way.
